Sadagopan crowned as Pedda Jeeyar of TTD
April 1: Sri Sadagopan Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamy was crowned Pedda Jeeyar Swamy of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Thursday morning.Speaking on the occasion, the Pedda Jeeyar Swamy said that he would continue the path of Sriman Ramanujacharya and the Vaikhanasa traditions in the temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala and temple rituals and kainkaryams in the temples of the TTD would also be performed perfectly.
The Pedda Jeeyar Swamy declared Sriman Srinivasan, one of his disciples as the Chinna Jeeyar Swamy of the TTD. The TTD Trust Board chairman, Mr D.K. Audikesavulu Naidu, the executive officer, Mr I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, senior officials and Vedic priests were present.
The Peda Jeeyar Swamy was born in Mayavaram in Tanjore district of Tamil Nadu. He came to the Tirumala hills at the age of six and joined the Sri Venkateswara Veda Patasala in 1960. He studied Nalayira Divya Prabandham under eminent Vedic scholars and completed the course in 1970. He is also eloquent in both English and Telugu.
In 1970, he joined as an Adhyapaka in the Pedda Jeeyangar Swamy Mutt at Tirumala and served the Tirumala temple for about 10 years.
In 1981, he joined as Adhyapaka (Nalayira Divya Prabandham) in Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Srinivasa Mangapuram and served there for 24 years. On May 1, 2004, he assumed the office of Chinna Jeeyangar, rendering service in all TTD temples as the deputy to the late Sri Ranga Ramanuja Pedda Jeeyangar.
